Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Waka Waka

Waka Waka

Waka Waka, my favorite Shakira song and now, my favorite instant coffee.

I was headed to Pismo Beach for a quick getaway and needed my daily caffeine fix. Usually, hotels have some atrocious coffee.  Thankfully, I had my Waka instant coffee with me.  I got the hot water and I was ready to go.  And by go, I mean sit and do nothing.  It’s a vacation, folks.

I took my first sip and I was in heaven.  I tried the Indian blend and it tasted like a cup from a perfectly brewed pot from a small coffee shop in the middle of a small town in a Hallmark Channel movie… you get the point.

The box comes with 8 individual packets containing the perfect amount of 100% Arabica beans ready to be blended in water.  The coffee beans are made using a freeze drying technology, preserving the coffee’s aroma and depth of flavor.

Waka Coffee was actually created as an answer to blah instant coffee that’s usually available.  The same packets can be poured into cold water for a cold brew, with the same delicious taste.

I’ve actually been dealing with some anxiety lately, so I was really happy to see the variety pack came with a decaf option, too.  I enjoy drinking coffee in the mornings, but sometimes, I don’t need that extra caffeine boost.  The brand even created packets for tea lovers.

Waka Coffee gives back in a very thoughtful way.  Coffee beans come from the seeds of a fruit similar to cherries.  After being washed, the fruit is placed in flotation tanks full of water.  The ripe beans are lighter, so they float to the top, while the unripe beans sink to the bottom.  After this process, the beans are placed in clear water for 12 hours to induce the naturally caused fermentation, resulting in beautifully clean coffee beans.

Waka Coffee realized that while so much water is being used for something like creating coffee, about 633 million people in the world live without any clean water.  The brand created the Add Water, Give Water program.  The program donates a percentage of profits to charity:water, an organization helping bring clean water to families throughout the year in 26 countries around the world.  The organization uses 100% of the public’s donations to fund water projects.

Coffee may be a necessity to most of us to get through our long and busy days, but the reality is, water is the only necessity our bodies actually need.  Waka Coffee is doing their part in more ways than one.

“Waka Coffee is not only about selling coffee.”
