LA Kings Come Out for a Good Cause
Kings hockey games are probably the most fun sporting event I have ever been to. Sure, I’m a die-hard Lakers fan, but let’s be real, basketball games aren’t that exciting when it’s regular season and one game a season is plenty. Hockey is a beast of its own and I can proudly say that I’ve been to countless games and want to go to more before this season is over. That’s why I was so excited to attend the 2018 Luc Robitaille Celebrity Shootout.
Hockey seems to be more popular in LA than one would think, and it was evident with all the stars that came out to not only support Luc and Stacia Robitaille’s cause Echoes of Hope, but they brought their ice gear to play! Celebrity teams went head to head, playing to raise money for the non-profit organization.
David Boreanaz played against his son Jaden, who told me he was going to kick his dad’s butt on the ice. E!’s The Arrangement’s Michael Vartan came out to play, something he loves to do when work isn’t calling. Other celebrities like the band R5 was exciting to put on skates for a good cause and actor Jay Harrington was excited to finally get the call to play.
It’s definitely an honor for the celebs to get the call from Luc and Stacia to play, but the best part is, it’s all to raise money and awareness for Echoes of Hope. The organization helps at-risk youth in the foster care system find independence and supports their college aspirations.
Something I thought was super cool was that Kings alumni and other NHL alumni came out for the game and the cause. The Kings’ announcer Jim Fox told me what it was like calling the first and second Kings Stanley Cup winning games, and he even tells me which was better!
I sported my Kings gear and had so much fun chatting with hockey fans and players. I can't wait for next year! GO Kings GO!
