Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Getting Groovy with the Planet

Getting Groovy with the Planet

Walking down the aisles of a grocery store, I can’t help but notice all of the organic fruits and vegetables.  Of course, it costs more than the average apples and cucumbers, but you know it is so much better for you and for the environment.  So how come when I’m shopping for clothes, I’ve never seen anything like that? With Earth Day right around the corner on April 22nd, I’ve been on the lookout for an organic clothing brand and that’s exactly what I found.

Groovy Globe is a brand with a message… on your T-shirt!  The brand creates 100 percent organic cotton shirts with a mission to save the planet.  The brand gives 10 percent of the proceeds of each eco-friendly shirt sold to non-profit organizations dedicated to helping protect the planet.

Groovy Globe creator Candace Vadnais is a self-proclaimed obsessive recycler and a definite environmentalist.  She set out to do something that would help causes she is passionate about.

“Helping the environment is extremely important because there are so many people who don’t realize the amount of chemicals and other pollutants omitted into the environment and how these things affect the air we breathe, water we drink, and our health in general,” explains Candace.  “Such environmental issues have caused severe weather patterns such as droughts, earthquakes, and mudslides. The less we omit into the environment the less the effects will be.”

Candace uses powerful statements like PROTECT, SUSTAIN, and RENEW, with a definition on the back.  Each statement brings a call to action.

“I knew I didn’t want to use the typical words like recycle or reuse, as those words have been around for so long and we see them everywhere,” says Candace.  “I wanted words that are fresh and new in the green space. Something that was different but easily identifiable with the environment.”

Currently, Groovy Globe is partnered with Trees for the Future and Global Green USA.  Trees for the Future plants trees globally, which if you were paying attention in biology class, is important because trees absorb carbon dioxide and harmful gasses, clean the air, and release oxygen.  Global Green USA helps local governments, schools, and public agencies integrate clean energy and water reduction measures to help reduce waste and have a better and more sustainable future.

If you want to do more to help save the planet, Candace says even the smallest things can help.  Switch to energy efficient light bulbs, recycle, and use reusable bags when shopping. If like most, you’re already doing these things, take it up a notch and use reusable water bottles, don’t use plastic straws, and choose organic foods.  It is super easy to make these changes, and if enough people did it, the difference would be remarkable.

Groovy Globe is on the right path and continuing to grow.  The tees are cute, extremely comfortable, and express the right message.  With enough people wearing them, the message and donations could make an incredible change.  Candace has her eye on one celebrity who she would love to dress in Groovy Globe.

“If Shailene Woodley, who’s a huge environmentalist, happened to see our T-shirts and wanted to support us by wearing our tees – we would be beyond delighted!  She has such a huge following, especially among people like herself who are doing what they can to help the environment.”

Ball's in your court, Shailene.
