Pocket Full of Sunshine
Picture this: You’re on a tropical vacation and you look the part to a T. The resort has your favorite, a swim up bar. You jump in… OK, you dip your feet in first to check the water. It’s perfect. You’re in and off to the bar. One pina colada, please! Ah, the most perfectly colorful drink. Time to tip the bartender… except your dinero is in your bag by your chair a good 20 feet away.
One California-based swimsuit designer created the most epic swimsuit I have ever experienced. Lagoa Swimwear features the unthinkable… a pocket!! While living in Brazil, creator Lauren Elizabeth, realized what was missing on her world travels.
“One time, I went into the ocean for a minute and when I returned, my money, ID, and other items were stolen,” says Lauren. “The things that I cared about most were small enough to fit in a pocket.”
After realizing there weren’t any options for bikinis with pockets, in August 2016, Lauren launched a Kickstarter campaign. Lagoa’s first resort collection launched in December 2016, changing the way women wear bikinis.
Lagoa Swimwear not only have a hidden zipper-pocket with a clear removable waterproof pouch, but they’re also reversible. Are you kidding me?! Pack half the swimwear for a trip, mix and match bottoms, and you’re saving a ton of time and space in your luggage.
One thing that stood out to me with Lagoa was the models on their site look like real women. They look like you, me, and your girlfriends. When I put the bikini on, it fit perfectly. The bold plum color stood out and I loved that I could switch it up with the floral design.
Lagoa also partnered with Surfrider Foundation after Lauren was introduced to it in Venice, California.
“I saw a group gathered together to pick up trash at the beach. I went over and learned more about the organization and really loved the vibe and mission.”
Lagoa donates 10% of sales to Surfrider Foundation. Lauren loves that the Foundation’s mission is aligned with Lagoa’s.
“Donations go towards beach access, clean water, ocean protection, coastal preservation, and reducing plastic pollution. We’ve taken part in a few beach clean-ups and plan to do more in the future. Every little bit helps!”
The Lagoa Resort 2019 line will be out in November. Also, the bikini line will be a part of 2 events coming up: Newport Beach Market in Newport Beach on June 17th, and the Riviera Village Summer Festival on June 23rd and 24th in Redondo Beach.
