Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Hydration is Life

Hydration is Life

Even while I was preggo, I had to have my hair just right.  I went to my hair girl 3 times to bring the right shade of blonde back into my life.  All that color and bleach needs one thing… brilliant haircare.

I came across the Masami collection when I was looking for the best shampoos and conditioners during pregnancy.  I had read phthalates were really bad for pregnant women, so I was reading ingredient lists like a mad scientist.

The Masami shampoo stood out to me because it has no bad ingredients.  The collection has no sulfates, parabens, or phthalates.  Since bleached hair tends to dry out extremely fast, I love that Masami also doesn’t have any alcohol or silicone in its products.  It is actually made to hydrate strands, and I love that. Also, it smells like what I assume heaven smells like. Delicious!

One thing I was surprised to see in the ingredients list was Prunus Armeniaca.  With everything currently going on in Armenia, it was a nice surprise to see the Armenian Plum as an ingredient.

The Masami conditioner is just as amazing.  It left my hair so soft and silky, but most importantly, my strands felt healthier.

I also tried out the Masami Shine Serum.  HELLO gorgeous hair!  I am obsessed with this serum.  I am a volume fanatic (the more volume, the better), and the serum doesn’t weigh my strands down.  It also helps eliminate frizz, which I battle every day, and has thermal protection for when I use hot tools.  I also like that it doesn’t have any mineral oils.  Some hair products boast about mineral oils, but that stuff just leaves strands dry, stiff, and weighted down with residue.  No, thank you.

Masami’s main component is Mekabu.  Mekabu is the turnip-looking part beneath the wakame seaweed, just above the root.  It is found in Japan, hence the Japanese inspiration for Masami.  Japan is known for including seaweed in their daily diets, but it’s also known for infusing it into their hair products.  Mekabu is infused with vitamin A, C, E and K.  When it comes to hair, this means botanically hydrated tresses for all types and colors.

Because Masami is so connected with the ocean, the brand created the Masami Institute, dedicated to protecting the natural habitat Mekabu comes from.  The Masami Institute team in Northeast Japan works with local fisherman and preservation groups with the ultimate goal to preserve and restore the ocean ecosystem. They are also dedicated to educating the world about the importance of maintaining balance in the environment.

Masami is doing everything right, and my strands and soul are loving it.

“We exclusively use Mekabu sourced directly from Japanese Wakame. We proudly collaborate with a local Japanese farming family that has already a 71 year history of seaweed farming and manufacturing.”
