On the Right Path
It’s mid-January and the gyms are already getting less crowded. I haven’t stuck to all of my resolutions, but there is one that’s an absolute must. I HAVE to drink more water.
I get through about 24 ounces of water a day. Call it lazy, call it running out of time, call it whatever you want. They say you should drink about a third of your weight in ounces of water… I definitely don’t weigh 60 pounds. I needed to up my game but first I needed to be motivated.
I hate having to throw plastic bottles away. When I try to be environmentally conscious and refill a plastic water bottle, it starts tasting funky. Also, health advocates advise against reusing plastic bottles because they form serious health risks. I came across Pathwater on Instagram and knew I had to try it out.
Pathwater created a cool (pun-intended) aluminum bottle that helps keep water cold longer and is safe to be refilled over and over again. I finished the 25 ounce bottle in one sitting! That would normally be a whole days worth for me, but the water was smoother than usual and tasted nice and cold.
The bottle is designed really well, so I don’t have to worry about busting it out in a meeting or at the gym. I’ve tried those bulky reusable plastic tumblers and this is so much better. It fits in my bag, is easy to carry, I don’t have to worry about the top opening, and it looks really cute.
I had no idea that 8 million tons of plastic go into our oceans every year. I knew the numbers were high, but not THAT high. Research shows that by 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish… that’s only 30 years away!
Aside from Pathwater’s awesome bottles, their water is pretty special. It’s locally sourced and purified using an intense reverse osmosis 7-step filtration system. The reverse osmosis system guarantees the water we are sipping is free from additives, chlorine, pollution, fluoride, arsenic, pharmaceuticals, BPA, BPS, and 99.99% of dissolved solids. And for you pH-nerds, it’s perfectly balanced. No wonder it’s so easy to drink.
The best part about Pathwater’s bottles is that when you’re done refilling it as many times as your heart desires, the bottle is very recyclable. The aluminum bottle takes up 5 times less energy to recycle. Aluminum can be recycled endlessly… over and over and over again. Plastics, however, have a harder time being recycled because of how they are sorted and what products they eventually get turned into, like clothing or carpet fibers, which can’t be re-recycled.
Pathwater is doing their part to be socially responsible, protect the environment, and help spread the word to ban single-use plastic water bottles. I’m upping my water game. Want to join the revolution?
